John Curtis Carr, PA
I grew up in Canon City, Colorado. I’m father to two boys, nine and seven years old. We enjoy doing woodworking projects together, as well as raising ducks and chickens. For my undergraduate, I played NCAA basketball in South Dakota, where I obtained a bachelors in chemistry. In 2007, I joined the army and became a special forces medic. I spent five years at third special force as group, with two deployments to Afghanistan. I have been awarded two bronze stars for my actions in Afghanistan. In 2014, after returning from Afghanistan, I had a decision to make—whether to become an E7 and be in charge of other individuals on my team, or remain in medicine. In order to remain in medicine, I had to go to PA school. So, in 2016, I was honorably discharged from the Army, where I then attended PA school at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. In 2017, I graduated PA school and began working in emergency medicine. Recently, I felt like I could make more of a difference with working in primary care, as opposed to emergency medicine. I’m excited to embark on this incredible journey in my life.
