Dr. LaMond is a nutrition, hormone and prevention expert. Drawing from his foundation and board certification in Family Medicine, he has created the core medical principles behind the blue sky concept of total patient care. He is an active member of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery and American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Amanda Alexander, DO

Hendersonville Location

Dr. Alexander is a board certified internal medicine physician, with a background in osteopathic manipulative medicine, personal training, and hospice and palliative medicine. Her focus is on not only prevention and treatment of disease processes, but also in ensuring that chronic diseases are managed in a way that ensures that the person they impact is able to continue living life. Your appointment time is not just a checkbox on a computer–it’s a chance for collaboration and care that focuses on you.

Rachel Harris, D.O.

Medical Supervisor, North Carolina Offices

Dr. Harris graduated from University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and then went onto complete medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing her residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, MI, Dr. Harris worked at Brevard Family Practice until joining Blue Sky MD. When she isn’t working with patients, Rachel loves to spend her free time reading, hiking, knitting and even SCUBA diving!

Joyce Angela Struna PA-C, Bachelor of Science, graduated from Radford University Carillon, formerly known as Jefferson College of Health Science in Roanoke, Virginia. Angela has worked in Family Practice and Urgent Care for more 14 years. Prior to moving to the local area, she worked with Carol Fischer, MD, PC’s family practice for 8 years while serving as a PA with the Wyoming Air National Guard.  Angela retired from the Wyoming Air National Guard in 2014, with more than 22 years of combined service. In her free time, Angela enjoys spending time with her family and friends, hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, lake kayaking, snow shoeing, canning veggies she grows in her garden, and traveling.  Angela’s most recent traveling adventure was to the Patagonia region on an Argentina Adventure Tour with the National Outdoor Center in February 2022.

Kathy Motes, MSN, ARNP, FNP-C

Graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 1987. Worked as a registered nurse in a variety of practice settings including family medicine, neurology, trauma, critical care, addictionology, pain management, and psychiatry.  Obtained graduate degree from Purdue University and became a board-certified family nurse practitioner.  I utilize a customized integrative approach gathering the best of all methods of medicine and tailor to an individual personal needs. I use trigger point injections as well as joint injections including stem cell injections as part of regenerative medicine.  I also believe in the healing powers of nutrition including nutritional supplements. I believe that listening is just as important as talking and providing compassionate care to all. 

I spend my spare time with my children and family enjoying the great outdoors here in the western NC mountains.

Melissa Dewing, APRN

Melissa Dewing started her professional career with a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship at the University of Vermont. After working in marketing for 4 years she decided on a career change into medicine. She received her second Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Simmons University and went on to work as an RN for 7 years. 5 of these years were in Primary Care Medicine. Melissa then decided to advance her career to become a Nurse Practitioner. She did her Master of Nursing in Family Practice from South University. She has worked in Primary Care ever since. She has a special interest in cardiovascular health, mental health and weight loss. In her free time she enjoys being outside and exploring the mountains with her family and dog. She also loves to paint colorful portraits of dogs and horses (her two favorite animals).

Frederick Dressler, MD

Dr. Dressler is board certified in general and international cardiology with 30 years’ experience in the field of medicine. His academic and teaching background focuses on clinical care of patients.  Dr. Dressler’s special interests and areas of expertise also include chest pain and coronary heart disease, pulmonary systems and CHF, palpitations, atrial fibrillation, leg pain and peripheral artery disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Kimberly Scruggs, FNP-BC

Kimberly Scruggs, FNP-C, is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals and families. Before obtaining her Family Nurse Practitioner certification, Kimberly spent 17 years working as a nurse, where she developed a strong clinical foundation and a deep passion for supporting patients through every stage of life.

In her role as a Family Medicine provider, Kimberly focuses on building trusting relationships, promoting preventive care, and helping patients feel empowered in their health decisions. She is known for her warm, attentive approach and her ability to make patients feel heard, respected, and well cared for.

Outside of the clinic, Kimberly enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their children. She values family, community, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those she serves.

Kristyn Stevens, MSN-Ed, FNP-C

Kristyn is a native of Robbinsville NC where she currently lives with her husband, Brian, and her younger daughter, Klancy. Her oldest daughter, Katelyn, has been married to husband James for five years. They live in Madisonville, TN and welcomed their first baby two months ago.  

Kristyn graduated from Western Carolina University in 2001 with her BSN and spent the first ten out of 11 years at the hospital in Sylva, then known as WestCare.  In 2012, she transferred to Swain and spent 10 more years there until she finished her FNP program. During her time in Sylva, she discovered she had a passion for teaching and spent 6 years between 2013 and 2019 as full time faculty in the nursing program at Southwestern Community College while she maintained an as needed position in the emergency department at Swain Hospital. She completed her master’s degree in nurse education in 2019, but quickly realized she wanted to continue to further her education to become a provider for WNC residents. For the past four years, she has been caring for patients in Graham County in primary care and urgent care-type settings. However, she is looking forward to returning to her professional roots in Jackson County. 

Her husband serves as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Robbinsville and she is a Sunday School teacher. She loves the Lord, her family, her horses, and spending time with her new grandson.

Since becoming a nurse practitioner in 2017, Jonathan has worked locally in primary care and gastroenterology settings with English and Spanish-speaking patients. His own personal wellbeing is supported by enjoying our amazing natural surroundings, sharing life with family and friends, and building/fixing stuff.
