Jonathan Bentley, NP
Sylva Location
Jonathan’s healthcare career started 20 years ago as a registered nurse in cardiac, ICU, and emergency roles, helping patients in crisis. These extreme experiences highlighted the importance of lifestyle and health upgrades that help us stay out of the hospital and in the “sweet spot” of wellbeing. His goal as a healthcare provider is to help people navigate the ever-changing circumstances of life: health surprises, changes in home life, financial considerations, and exciting new treatment options.
Since becoming a nurse practitioner in 2017, Jonathan has worked locally in primary care and gastroenterology settings with English and Spanish-speaking patients. His own personal wellbeing is supported by enjoying our amazing natural surroundings, sharing life with family and friends, and building/fixing stuff.
Kristyn Stevens, MSN-Ed, FNP-C
Sylva Location
Kristyn is a native of Robbinsville NC where she currently lives with her husband, Brian, and her younger daughter, Klancy. Her oldest daughter, Katelyn, has been married to husband James for five years. They live in Madisonville, TN and welcomed their first baby two months ago.
Kristyn graduated from Western Carolina University in 2001 with her BSN and spent the first ten out of 11 years at the hospital in Sylva, then known as WestCare. In 2012, she transferred to Swain and spent 10 more years there until she finished her FNP program. During her time in Sylva, she discovered she had a passion for teaching and spent 6 years between 2013 and 2019 as full time faculty in the nursing program at Southwestern Community College while she maintained an as needed position in the emergency department at Swain Hospital. She completed her master’s degree in nurse education in 2019, but quickly realized she wanted to continue to further her education to become a provider for WNC residents. For the past four years, she has been caring for patients in Graham County in primary care and urgent care-type settings. However, she is looking forward to returning to her professional roots in Jackson County.
Her husband serves as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Robbinsville and she is a Sunday School teacher. She loves the Lord, her family, her horses, and spending time with her new grandson.
